More help needed

Forgive me but I have been miffed with you all these last few days because no one answered the question below. Turns out that's because I saved the post instead of publishing it. I apologise for thinking bad thoughts about you all! Here is the original post....

....Sometimes my creativity outstrips my abilty.

I started out to make a version of this scrap quilt but using left over strips of green and brown african style fabrics. But, I don't do well following patterns and have ended up with this base for an appliqued wall hanging. I am imagining a large african mask with feathers covering much of the green diamonds.
I want to keep it with this jagged edge - but how do I bind it?

....... PS. This little chappy appeared in our urban garden today.

Have you considered facing it instead of binding it?

try an envelope backing and binding method....

I'm with Vicki -- I was going to suggest skipping the binding and just do a "birthed" quilt.

I was thinking bias binding, so you can go around the corners more easily, but it birthing it seems more appropriate.

I suppose it depends on the look you want -- perhaps bias binding as suggested in maybe black, or perhaps a serged edge.

I'm plumping for bias binding, but am intrigued by the thought of envelopes and birthing - I have a good imagination and am a midwife too - so i think I have it worked out!

All sound like good plans - and also the African mask sounds yummy, oh Queen

Thank you for selecting my pattern to make. You are braver than me. I always square up my quilts.

Another good finish would be yarns machine couched to the edges ... especially fitting for your intended subject. All those starts and stops around the points and in the valleys will be slow, but it could be done. There's a tutorial about couching on my blog (Nov 3rd, 2006 post).
