Confused of St.Helens

Look, I know I am not stupid, OK? I just feel stupid right now. But the reason I am sure I am not stupid is that I am smart enough to tell you that I am stupid and need help.

Your comments on my last post were extremely helpful (keep them coming). I especially liked this U tube video explanation for RSS feeds that Lisa sent me. It seems that Google Reader is flavour of the month. I can find that. I can even get to the goodies page and the instructions to get the raved about ' next' button and the terribly convenient 'subscribe' button. I can read well enough to see that all I must do is drag the little button to my bookmark bar.

But where the ****** is my bookmark bar?!
Sorry, I have been puzzling this out for over an hour now. Or not, to be more accurate.
Dragging to the little bookmark word on my google toolbar doesn't work. So what am I missing?

I think I will get a pencil and paper and write a list of all the blogs I like. That should do it.

your tool bar will look different depending on the web browser you use -- but its basically the bar with various functions that lets you navigate around the web....

It might be Internet explorer or Firfox or something else completely you use, but whatever it is, if you look through the various submenus offered (often under a word like view)you'll see a setting for showing various toolbars try clicking them and see what changes ;-)

You obviously didn't read my blog THAT closely because I posted the same U-tube video back at the beginning of the month as part of RSS awareness day. Anyway, to answer your question - if you use Firefox, there is a "Bookmark" option in the toolbar. In IE, it is called "Favourites". What you need to do is load up all of your subscriptions into Google reader and then bookmark/favourite your Google Reader page.

While you are at it, don't forget to subscribe to the Twelve by Twelve comments RSS feed

Don't worry I'm sure you're not going mad. I am currently stuck in the last century as I write down interesting blogs in my little orange book that MUST NOT be moved from the computer desk! But not anymore! I shall be organising my Google reader thanks to the utube instructions. Thanks for bringing me upto date.
Best wishes
ps how's the pulley system going?

It's the favorite on your tool bar. When you are on a blog you can bookmark it as a favorite and then just pull it up when you want to do some reading.

From your other post, I use google reader. I love it. I can pull up google in the morning and hit some of my favorite blogs (yours) when you have a new post. I discovered and I can look at 100 blogs and not have to go to each site individually. Google Reader tells me when you posted, so I can go click on your and see what's new.

Good Luck.

I confuse my kids by using the term "bookmarks" instead of "favourites" (I get "oh, mum, you mean _favourites_) - I think it's a hangover from the early days of the web, when Netscape Navigator used the term bookmarks and IE used Favourites - I guess Firefox is using "bookmarks", too - I never got out of that habit...
