Dennis, for reasons known only to him wants to call this Marvelous Malcolm Macaw but its not called that at all - its called Polly in the Rain. And no, Dennis is not getting his second vote either which is to call the Polly Esther.
It is 23 x 32 and is the scraps from the scrap quilt from the log cabin quilt. (And still there are scraps left.....). I think you can just tell on the photo that I have been at it with crayons on the tail, beak and head.
How do you think I should quilt it? I am toying with either wobbly lines vertically down the strips and leaves (albeit in blue thread) to emphasise the rainforest feel in the border... Or then I thought the quilting on the strips maybe should be diagonal and maybe even big stitches by hand to show a more literal rain. But I am open to your ideas.
PS Ten minutes after posting. I've just thought - rain in the rainforest comes down vertically doesn't it?

Forget what happens in real life this quilt is your interpretation of the rainforest. I think diagonal "rain" quilting would be a contrast to the vertical stripes of fabric
Best wishes
This is beautiful. I love how the body of the parrot is the same as the background (different colors of course). Is this your own pattern?
I love parrots in cloth, not real life.
Your work is wonderful and beautiful.
I recently uncovered a parrot piece whilst sorting through my stash. I posted about it on my blog a day or so ago. I have parrots on my mind.
I like big stitch rain too. But I'd probably go vertical so "Esther" is the star. (Obviously, I'm with your hubby.)
